The Norse God Tyr

The Norse God Tyr (pronounced 'tear') is associated with law and war. He is most famous as the one who raised Loki's son Fenrir Wolf.

Afraid of Fenrir's growing size and strength, the other Gods sought to bind Fenrir. Fenrir broke every chain except for the ribbon named Gleipnir (forged by the Dwarves). Tyr sacrificed his right hand in order so the Gods could bind Fenrir where he will remain until Ragnorok.

Because of his deed, Tyr is associated with military valor and sacrifice. For this and many other reasons, we have named our organization after him.
